On Buying a New Car

It's been years since we bought a new car. Something we had prayed about for a long, long, long time. So long that Jared had asked many times (when he remembered) when we were getting a new car and each time before, my answer had been "Not yet".

The search had been one with some very firm criteria in mind:

  1. A 7 seater - so we could ferry people, particularly my dad who is getting older and my grandma (who's past 80!).
  2. A more fuel efficient car and one that was safe
  3. A car that was higher up for Olivia to drive so she could not only be safer (snatch thefts etc.) but also for her to be able to see the traffic in front.
  4. Lastly, but maybe most importantly, one that was reliable.

The new car we got ticked all those boxes and more! :

  1. It's comfortable! (Nice, leather seats, DVD player with multiple screens, sun-roof, Touch-screen Navi system etc.)
  2. It's powerful - a bigger, more powerful engine than we had previously thought off (since we were considering the Alza, Avanza and Grand Livina)
  3. It looks great!

So yes, we've got a great new Mazda 5. It is a second-hand car from people we know. Normally, this would make the car less appealing but they took great care of it and it was  something their family really enjoyed and were happy to pass on to us (business transaction not withstanding).

Best of all, it is a great reminder of how good God is. He provided for what we wanted, what we needed and more! This was a car I had thought about many years ago as the perfect car for our family but knew it was out of our price range. We had not considered it because it was way out of our budget and had only longingly looked at from a distance.

Now we can call it our own.

Excited for all the adventures we will have in this and praying it will be a constant reminder of God's provision in the least likely of times.
