Domineering

What is it about Humanity (or maybe just Western Civilization) that has it in for the people who dominate something. Think about it for awhile - the media, governments and so on are always criticizing those who monopolise an industry or any sector. This occured to me after reading a New York Times article on Roger Federer's latest Wimbledon crown. It seems as if anyone (eg. Bill Gates, Sam Walton) who has found a way to dominate something or a part of our life is suddenly the 'bad guy', the 'arch-enemy', the epitome of evil. What gives?

When there's a new kid on the block, we shower him/her with accolades, compare them to past greats, predict their bright future and then after a few years, the praise turns to criticism and deep rooted cynicism. We start sounding an awful lot like the fox who couldn't get the grapes.
